Beeswax lip balm

  1. 5g beeswax: You can get 100% herbal or natural beeswax from a store. This wax has anti-inflammatory emollient, healing and also contain lots of vitamins. Smoothes the skin while providing consistency to repairing balm.
  2. 15 g of EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil): As long as it is 100% extra and cold-pressed virgin, if ecological then much better. This oil is known for its moisturizing and regenerative properties. It improves skin elasticity, reduces signs of aging and also provides a silky touch to lips.
  3. 1 tablespoon of honey. This in addition to sweeten life, nourishes the skin deeply while moisturizes and softens lips. This ingredient as used in natural cosmetics to restore, clean, soften and nourishs the skin, reduce wrinkles, roughness and helps cell reactivation.
  4. 3 drops of essential oil: You can choose the one you like. Coconut oil, olive oil and almond oil are most commonly used in diy lip balm recipes.
  5. 1 vitamin E capsule: You can get at any pharmacy. It will help the oils in balm stay longer with all its properties. This step is optional.

How To Prepare:

  1. The first thing you have to do is disinfect utensils used both as surface and packaging. You can boil or vaporize all with alcohol and wait for it to dry thoroughly.
  2. Place in a bowl wax bath at very low heat to slowly melt. You must remove well.
  3. Without stirring add the oil. If you see a texture is too hard, you can add a little more.
  4. Turn off the heat and add the honey and mix all ingredients.
  5. As a last step you can add droplets of essential oil and vitamin E and then remix it. Once mixed properly, the resulting liquid is stirred until it starts to thicken and then poured into a container.
  6. Put this containing in the refrigerator and wait for it to solidify. Once it takes the sold form, you have prepared a homemade lip balm.

You don’t have natural oils then go for cocoa or shea butter. They too contain moisturizing properties. Try different combinations, considering that you need to add 3 parts of fat for each part of wax, approximately. This will vary depending on each type of fat. You can also add a bit of your lipstick to add a touch of color. Dare to experiment!

Petroleum jelly lip balm

A couple of months ago I had promised to go little by little different entries on natural cosmetics and DIY (do it yourself – do it yourself) recipes. So today I bring a very special recipe which can be used to prepare a refreshing lip balm at home.

We will need the following ingredients:

  1. Four tablespoons of olive oil. You can change the olive oil by any other oil, such as rosehip or sweet almond oil, but if you want to repair in depth I recommend using olive, as it is one of the most emollient oils with regenerative and moisturizing properties.
  2. Two tablespoons of Vaseline.
  3. Two tablespoons of aloe gel.

Use a bit of lipstick, if you want to add color. In our proposal we will use Vaseline, olive oil and aloe gel. The key is to find the amount of Vaseline which should be half the proportion to give you the perfect result.
How to prepare:

Preparation is very simple, we put it all into a container, heat it and stir with a stick, until the wax is completely melted. This balm I use it mainly to repair the lips and it has given the best result to me. It repairs, regenerates and moisturizes the lips and leaving a pink tone. In addition, this balm can be considered as a true multipurpose product for maintaining healthy lips.

The lips are a very vulnerable part of our body, since they are always exposed to environmental agents and to solar radiation, so protect and hydrate is a mission of vital importance if you want your lips to always stay soft and beautiful.

The only ingredient that can give you trouble locating is beeswax. I bought it at herbal product store in my city. I recommend searching online, where you will find the basic materials to create your natural recipes. I usually buy flavorings, colorings and essences online. I think the manufacturing process is fairly simple, but if you have any questions leave me a comment in this post. I hope you liked this post and feel encouraged to make your own home repairing lip balm!
