So, here are some tips and tricks you might want to take a look at to get rid of calluses on feet quickly. These tips will help you to get soft and smooth feet within a few days.

Three Steps to Remove Calluses on Feet

If you want smooth, soft feet, without any calluses then you need to go through a three step process. Now the three steps of this process are soaking, scrubbing and drying. These three steps can be carried out in many different ways and some of them are briefly described here.

Step 1: Soaking

The first step in the three step process is soaking. In this step, you need to soak your feet using warm water and some additional ingredient if you want. This step helps to soften your hard and dry skin. You need to soften your skin because in the next you are going to scrub your feet. Soft skin makes it really easy to be removed and much more comfortable. There are many ways a person can perform this step using different ingredient each time.
Using Epsom salt along with lukewarm water not hot water will help to soften your calluses and remove toxins. Another way is to use chamomile tea to soak your feet for 30 minutes. These different ways will help to soften hard feet and help to remove dead skin cells in the scrubbing part.

Step 2: Scrubbing

Scrubbing, this is the step where you get rid of calluses on feet using scrub. It’s best to use a proper file for removing calluses after you have done the soaking step. One can always do this after they have taken a nice shower as their feet have already been soaked in warm water. Use a file scrub your feet in a circular motion. This will help you to get rid of all the dead skin cells and also calluses. One can also use a pumice stone to do the scrubbing. You need to do this two times a week and continue till you are satisfied with the result.
An interesting fact you may like to know is that if you take a walk on a wet sandy beach barefoot everyday then you may never have to go through this process.

Step 3: Drying

Always remember to dry your feet after going through scrubbing if you don’t want any more calluses. It’s really important not to allow your feet to remain damp. Try using a proper towel to remove your moisture. It’s even better if you use corn starch on your feet after this process. Using corn starch helps with two things; first is it helps your dry out your feet and secondly it wards off any impending feet infections.
Once you have done these three steps then moisturize your feet. Try using your normal skin moisturizer or you can get a proper feet moisturizing cream.

Home Remedies to Eliminate Calluses

I always say it’s better to go natural where your body is concerned. It’s just as true in this matter and as I have already explained you the three steps you could combine the both. Here are some home remedies that you can use as part of a three step process.

  1. Epsom Salt for Soaking:
When you soak your feet, you are doing it to make your skin soft. And using warm water is easiest as it gets the job done easily, especially if it is soapy warm water. But it may take some time or sometimes the results may not be as good as you expected. To speed up the process and to get the best result possible, its better to add an extra ingredient like Epsom salt. All you need to do is add 3-4 tablespoon of Epsom salt in the container. Soak your feet for about 30 minutes and then go for your usual Scrubbing and Drying steps.
  2. Baking Soda for Soaking:
Baking soda is already known for its exfoliating properties. The minute crystals in baking soda helps remove the dead skin cells and make your skin soft. Since the skin of your calluses is very thick and hard you might have to use baking soda multiple times in order for it to show desired effects. One only needs to add 3 tablespoon of baking soda in warm water and soak their legs in it. Do this every alternate days in the beginning and then only once a week to get rid of calluses on feet naturally.
  3. Chamomile Tea for Soaking:

Chamomile tea is very well known for its aroma and for soothing your nerves, but it might come as a shock that it can also help in getting rid of calluses. This works best if you have extremely sweaty feet as chamomile tea is best to bring your pH level as is suited for your skin. Make a proper batch of chamomile tea using a couple of tea bags and soak your feet in it for at least 10 minutes. Then soak your feet in warm water for another 30 minutes or so and then go for the next step. Don’t be alarmed if you find your legs a bit colored because chamomile tea does leave some stain, but it can easily be removed using soap and water.

  4. Sugar Scrub:

When it comes to home remedies for scrubbing there nothing better than a sugar scrub. Sugar scrub is already known for its exfoliating quality on face, but it can also work your feet where calluses are concerned. Take a half cup of sugar in granular form, add mineral oil till you have a paste and add couple drops of lemon essence oil. Now use this paste to scrub your feet after soaking. Remember to wash your feet after this scrub and then pat it dry.

  5. Pineapple Peel:
Lately, pineapple has been getting lots of attention as researchers nowadays are finding its more diverse properties. One of its properties is that it can really soften your feet. Take a piece of a pineapple peel and cover the hard skin on your feet with it. Now place it in such a way that your entire callus is covered with the inside of that peel. Then wrap it with a cotton cloth or gauze whichever you prefer and just leave it for the night. Do this daily till the day you don’t have to do it anymore because there are no more calluses.
  6. Papaya Mask:
Apart from the three essential steps, you can also use feet mask to make your feet soft and callus free. Papaya is widely known for its enzyme called Papain. Now this Papain is found in papaya in abundance and what it does it helps in the breakdown of protein through a process of hydrolysis. In order for papaya to be used in the case of calluses, you have to extract its juice and apply it to your feet or only the callus affected area properly using a cotton ball. Do this twice a day or secure it with cotton gauze and leave it overnight. This will make your skin soft and help in removing your callus.

Tips to get rid of calluses on feet

  1. Never wear shoes that make your feet uncomfortable. If your shoes don’t fit you perfectly then they are bound to put pressure on one side of your foot which may cause calluses.
  2. Avoid wearing high heels all the time as it unnecessarily puts pressure on the balls of your feet which in turn makes skin hard. And another thing is always wear proper socks when wearing shoes.
  3. Always clean your feet properly and check your shoes before wearing them. If they are not clean then they are going to irritate your feet which may cause friction and eventually calluses.
  4. Soak your feet in warm water whenever you have time and feel your feet getting soft each time you do it.
  5. When it comes to scrubbing your feet, you must do it once a week and properly, not in haste. Never over scrub as it might cause tears in your feet which might sting later on.
  6. Always pat your feet dry after washing or scrubbing. If you don’t then dirt particles may stick on it and the whole reason for washing them in the first place goes to null.
  7. Always remember to moisturize your feet by using a natural moisturize if you like. One can always use petroleum jelly to keep them moisturized. Do this twice daily without fail after shower and before going to bed.
  8. People with diabetic conditions should always be more careful when dealing with such thing due to risk of infections.

Lastly if you are unable to remove calluses even after using all the home remedies and step, don’t get frustrated and cut it out. Instead go to a specialist and seek a proper treatment.
